Pharma Nord Cholessin provides red yeast rice standardised to deliver 2.5mg of natural monacolin K in each once-daily tablet.
Red yeast rice has been used traditionally in food production for centuries and is produced by fermenting rice with specific strains of yeast. Pharma Nord Cholessin tablets each contain 83.3 mg of red yeast rice powder, and this strength has been tested and verified. Cholessin further contains a standardised extract to provide a consistent amount of monacolin K in every tablet.
All batches of Cholessin are screened for fungal and environmental toxins such as citrinin, aflatoxin, dioxins, and heavy metals.
Studies have shown that products with red yeast rice are generally well tolerated, but the content of monacolin K in red yeast rice products can vary quite considerably. Some red yeast rice supplements contain very little monacolin K. Unfortunately, intake of red yeast rice is not a guarantee that the body's cholesterol level is maintained. It is important to choose products with a declared amount of monacolin K.
