Called 'hoshi nori' in Japanese, nori is a popular sea vegetable that makes an excellent garnish for noodle dishes, soups and salads. They require a brief toasting before use. Simply hold nori sheet over a gas flame or electric burner until it begins to turn green. They can then be torn or cut, and added to dishes to impart an authentic japanese flavour.
