Barley flakes are made by then flattening and rolling barley kernels. The end result is flakes of grain which are similar in size and appearance to rolled oats. Barley flakes are slightly thicker and have a chewier texture than oats making them a great addition to add a slight twist to common dishes.

Most often used as a breakfast cereal or as an alternative to oats when making porridge, barley flakes can also be used in flapjacks, baked goods, stuffings, meat dishes and puddings.
Barley flakes are an incredibly healthy choice too. Packed with fibre, protein and beta glucans, barley flakes provide slow-release energy to help keep blood sugar levels stable.
